Baanboard.com is a project by Patrick Van der Veken that was started during the warm summer of 2001. Baanboard's concept follows a couple of basic principles:

• provide a first class (discussion) site for Baan professionals to encourage knowlegde sharing
• no not charge members for the service
• do not use flashy banners or other highly annoying marketing material that seems to be inherit to other ERP related 'fan' sites

Baanboard.com supports the most active forum for Baan professionals powered by the best-in-class vBulletin software. Though my personal preference is to use open source software (OSS) where possible, I feel that vBulletin's community support and rich feature set has added to a great extent to the popularity of the site.

As addition to the typical dynamic nature of a discussion forum, a CMS platform was added to the baanboard website some years later. And in this case, OSS was the most appropriate choice in the form of a Drupal. The Drupal CMS allows members to document their experiences, findings and discussions in a more permanent way.
